Neighbourhood Plan for Hugglescote & Donington Le Heath

Under the Localism Act 2011 the Government is encouraging towns, villages and parishes to have a say in the future development of their parish. To create a Neighbourhood Plan requires a great deal of work done in a professional manner but, once adopted, the plan will hold considerable weight in determining planning applications.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan

A community led planning document that will influence development in our area over the next ten or so years.

Gives a Community a voice in decision making

Once adopted, the policies become part of the Development Plan (Planning Authority have to consider as part of planning decision making processes)

Local Plan covers the District a Neighbourhood Plan covers a specific area.

A Neighbourhood Plan cannot be used to stop growth but it can direct and shape development

A Neighbourhood Plan can identify community priorities eg cycle paths, protecting heritage sites etc.

At a Parish Council Meeting in April 2017 it was agreed that the Parish Council would work towards creating a Neighbourhood Plan.
